Increasing competition and managing technology to support enrollment efforts lead a list of concerns for higher education professionals. This according to presentation attendees at SunGard Higher Education's annual conference - Summit 2008.
During Planning for Recruiting and Admissions Success sixty attendees participated in an interactive survey to list their concerns, common enrollment objectives, and rank commonly used recruitment performance metrics.
Competition (53%), managing technology to support enrollment efforts (42%), declining state funding (33%) were the top concerns.
Fifty-eight percent of the respondents said that "shaping the make-up of their incoming student class" was their top enrollment objective. Not surprising given the shifting demographics of the prospective student population.
Finally, the number of applications received (75%) is the overwhelming metric used to indicate recruitment performance for this group of respondents.
