What technology are you using in the classroom?
Pocket Projectors? Mini-camcorders?
Acoustic Voice Trackers?
These are but a few innovative
technologies in use today at Georgia Tech’s Distance Learning and Professional
Education division.
During The Technology Sandbox at the UCEA South Conference, Nelson
Baker and George Wright from Georgia Tech provided a hands-on look at how these
technologies and others continue to transform the classroom experience.
Here is Nelson's list of recommended technology tools to consider:
The Flip UltraHD camcorder combines Flip Video's signature shoot-and-share simplicity with the power of vivid, vibrant HD video.
Optoma Pico Pocket Projector
(Approximately $230)
Smaller than many digital cameras and smart phones, the Optoma PK100 Pico Pocket Projector enables users to share images and videos from their media devices at sizes up to 60"
iTouch (approximately $200 - $400)
The iPod Touch is a portable media player, personal digital assistant, and Wi-Fi mobile platform.
Acoustic Magic Voice Tracker
Microphone (approximately $250)
Unlike first generation array
microphones which have a fixed "listen" direction, the Acoustic Magic
Voice automatically locates and electronically steers a listening beam toward
the talker.
Revolabs xTag USB Microphone System
(approximately $280)
The xTag Wireless Microphone is ideal for podcasting, VoIP, SKYPE, web conferencing, distance education, speech recognition, and many other audio applications.
